Vineyard source: Largely from the 9 year old Klindt Vineyard Dijon 113,115, 667, and Pommard , supplemented by a small portion from the Day Ranch to add complexity.
Tasting Notes: Bold as usual, The Noble One opens with a nose of brooding dark cherry fruit and plums. The texture is rich and silky, and provides a palette for flavors of black cherry, black plum and pomegranate which burst forth in the mouth. In the long finish, flavors of subtle oak, smoke and tobacco lend a note of complexity. Ready to drink but will age well with proper cellaring.
Winemaker Notes: The 2005 wines were aged in 70% new French oak barrels until the following summer. At that time the wines were racked from the barrels, blended and returned to the barrels to finish aging--a total of 19 months in oak. Each lot and clone was aged separately, and then blended to result in the maximum complexity. |
